Nahid warns against media intimidation, vows stern action

The government will take stern action against those trying to incite violence or exert undue pressure on the media or newspapers, said Information Adviser Nahid Islam today.
He said this at a press briefing at the Foreign Service Academy, referring to the vandalism incident in the Prothom Alo office in Rajshahi today.
“Our position is that anyone can express their grievances against any media, but it should be done in a peaceful manner,” he said.
If there is any specific complaint [against any media], anyone can take legal action, Nahid Islam said.
“We will take stern actions if anyone tries to create pressure or incite violence against media,” he added.
